In my opinion – and that of many of my business associates – HostPapa has a multitude of problems with customer service and honesty.

In direct contradiction of ICANN regulations, they will list themselves at the domain name administrative contact. Essentially, they are taking control of your domain name, and will do everything they can to prevent you transferring it away – unless you pay “renewal” or “unlocking” fees. In some cases this can amount to $200 or more.

ICANN does NOT allow a “losing” registrar to extort money to release a domain name for transfer.

If you want to complain about registry problems, send a copy of your message to the “real” registrar, TuCows. HostPapa is NOT an ICANN-Accredited Registrar.

I believe that HostPapa is a business front for TuCows, and they have “offices” in England and France so they can avoid taxes, and appear ‘international.’

My advice, based on my experience is: stay away from HostPapa. I really don’t care how “green” they appear to be. I don’t think they can be trusted.

I have removed all my domain names from their clutches, and cancelled all services with them.

I’ve been satisfied at every level. I feel secure with HostPapa. I found an online website rating HostPapa as one of Canada’s best hosts and I agree with that rating. The price is good, the terms are ethical, and service is reliable and prompt. The instructions for setting up are very good, and the tutorials are an invaluable aid, especially since they can be referred to at any time. Many other vendors have an impersonal air about them, but with HostPapa I feel that they’re only a phone call or an E-mail away and you can deal with real, approachable people when you need to.

I have three HostPapa hosting accounts and I bet I’ll be buying my fourth within a month or two. The service has been flawless and my sites are all doing great – stable and accessible all the time. I’m impressed.

I love the fact that HP is a green host so I signed up with HP to host my business site 3 months ago. I`ve utilizing every aspect of what they have to offer from their counter, to all marketing tools, POP3, flash … and they all work smoothly with no trouble. My site is always up and running and is fast.

I had an issue with Moodle and everything on my site was nowhere to be seen. Thank goodness for Hostpapas support team and their backup system or I wouldn’t have know what to do. They quickly put of a custom error page up for me and resolved the issue in no time; very professional with no hassle.

I have a large-ish media sharing website hosted with HostPapa for a few years now. The uptime is great and is real important to me especially since my site generates revenue from the adverts. I would recommend this host to anyone!

They were not only more knowledgeable than their competition, but they actually reply in a timely manner! I usually call a host before I sign up to test the waters, and wow HostPapa you have some good people working for you!

I have been using Hostpapa hosting for almost 3 months now, and it is clear to me that they are good in what they do.

I have not encountered any problem with them. Their control panel is easy to use, just like any other hosting companies that I have been with. The fantastico script simply installs everything correctly and fast as needed.

I used their support only once and actually it was my mistake as I forgot that new domains need time to propagate and I was asking them why it doesn’t display the main page correctly. Their support is very friendly and fast.

One of the reasons why I chose Hostpapa is because they are “Green”, and I would like to do something to save the earth.
