I have been a Dream host customer for 2 years now. They went through a rough patch just after I signed up, but problems were resolved quickly. Over the past 18 months I have had almost no issues. Those that I did have were resolved in minutes with email interactions with real people.

Dreamhost’s customer support is quite good, but the price is really too high.
Altogether, if you want to start your business from the websites you host, Dreamhost is your choice, but if you just want set up a website of your own, you may choose some other companies which offer enough service for you with lower price.

I have been using Dreamhost now for a least three or four years to host my main photo blog / portfolio and other websites and projects that I had both whilst at college and professionally. It only gets about 1,200 unique visitors a day average so I have never had a problem with bandwidth issues. If your website has less than a few thousand unique visitors per day then in my opinion they are one of the best all round hosting companies for the price.

My only small issue with them is that they haven’t been 100% reliable in terms of uptime but probably a maximum of 20 hours average per year which in my opinion is pretty good. They have a friendly support team that always keep you informed with changes and upgrades to their systems.

Whenever I have had a problem with my hosting or account they have answer my question within a matter of hours rather than days which gives me peace of mind should I have a problem. I use WordPress for my main site which is great to instant with Dreamhosts “one click instants”.

Maybe I have so far been lucky with Dreamhost but they are ten times better than my previous hosting company. I have looked around for a better hosting deal but at the moment I trust this company with my business. I currently have half a dozen different domains under my one Dreamhost account and have them forward to different sections or folders within my main site. Dreamhost allows me to do this really conveniently which is great.

The user login area is the easiest to use out of the two or three different hosting providers that I have tried in the past and I would certainly recommend them to a friend.

DreamHost has been to be the worst host there is. I was hosting with DreamHost for three months since October, and it has to be the worst three months of my life regarding hosting.

Now you’re probably wondering how they can be that bad. Well, downtime is a clue. I have never experienced so much downtime in such a short period of time, my site could be down anywhere from minutes to over 5 hours a week, and when I tried to contact support they told me that it never happened and that I should mind my own business. Well, if my website isn’t my business then I don’t know what is.

This may be more personal taste and annoyance, but they do not use cPanel which has become the industry standard for hosting control panels. Instead they rather use a custom built one which may seem confusing for users who are used to cPanel from other hosts.
They do however have a custom auto-installer, it is not the usual Fantastico, but it’s fairly good. It doesn’t have all the scripts Fantastico has though, only a few chosen ones like WordPress, Joomla and phpBB. It is easy to use and gets the job done quite nicely.

So they have a lot of horribe downtime and an okay control panel, but what really drags them down is their support. The support is just terrible, they don’t even have a phone number for their support staff! How they get by with that in 2010 is a good question. They answer emails or support tickets maybe in a ratio of 1:100, one answered for every houndred recieved. If they answer you might be lucky and get a real reply, or like the rest of us, get a link to their support Wiki which is hard to search trough.

The overall value is not what they want you to pay. They want you to pay over 8$ a month, which is no less than outrageous if you take the service you get into consideration. If I were you I would choose another host.

I’ve around 20 sites on Dreamhost, never had trouble hosting with them. If you are searching for a shared web hosting service you won’t find any better. Having said that, if you intend to go beyond a hundred thousand visitors daily, I don’t recommend them. They are more suited to personal blogs and 5 pages sites.

Regarding User Interface, I’m really satisfied with Dreamhost, it is painless to add any new website to your network extremely fast. I would a new web site up and running in minutes as opposed to hours in other hosts. The Customer Control Panel of Dreamhost is custom built to make beginners to hosting feel at ease. They also have a huge collection of Templates and One-Click-Install Scripts.

Customer Support is good, but not as quick as the other hosts because of the huge customer base. They normally revert extremely fast for simple queries and take days to solve complex ones like database problems. Downtime is close to zero percent, but there is a lag in Dreamhost servers at times due to high traffic from other users websites which reside on the same server as ours.

I would say, for the price-performance ratio on shared hosting, Dreamhost probably is the best web hosting service out there. But if you are a serious web developer, and want to host exclusive high traffic web sites, I suggest you find a VPS or a Dedicated Server Solution.

At first, i had pretty high hopes for DreamHost. They seemed to be a good webhosting provider as their plan includes lots of “Unlimited” features under areas such as “Bandwidth”,”Disk storage”,”sql databases”.

Their free domain name registration and whois privacy protection was also a reasons why I chose them. However, the good things end there.

After payment was done, problems started to arise. First, it files were being deleted off the server, followed by the slow speed of the server. Whenever I reached for the customer service, either they were replying at huge delays or not addressing to the problem at all. Overall, I’m not satisfied with Dreamhost. I hope they can improve on the mentioned areas above.

As a web hosting company, Dreamhost has both promising and inhibitive features. I have found that the reliability of my sites hosted on Dreamhost is an average of 100% for the past six months. I use an external monitoring service, and 100% uptime is hard to come by. Also, DH’s web panel is highly organized and easy to use. Plus, DH has the best referral system with a low cashout around $25 or something, and pays $75 per referral. The only real problems with DH are it’s price and support. The price is pretty high, around $12, and it really offers a very basic set of features. As for the support, it’s virtually nonexistant. You can only get email responses which take about 2 days per response, or you have to pay an insane fee like $35 an hour for phone support, round up to the nearest hour. Although I love the uptime and features of DH, the price and the insanely low support have forced me to only recommend their service to experienced webmasters.

It was a truly terrible experience with this company. I switched from this host within couple of months. One day, they deleted my files claiming that my website got hacked and turned into bot to send out spam. The problem was that neither customer help nor tech support attempted to contact me to resolve this issue; they just deleted it. I did not have a back of my website, and I had to redo the whole thing again. After numerous times trying to contact them to figure out what happened, they said that they cannot recover any of my files, and everything was deleted clean.
Getting a refund was impossible. Their TOS states that clients can get their money back within 97 days, but it is just words. Getting in touch with customer services was tough, and arguing with them was even harder. At the end I just gave up and was not able to get any of my money back. Overall, I think this company does not wish to retain customers, and their customer turn-over rate is extremely high. I would not recommend signing up with this company.

dreamhost.com is one of the existing hosting company on the internet, there is that makes me uncomfortable for hosting here, either in terms of server uptime, server access speeds, up to the customer service was very poor. I do not know if it was already too long dreamhost.com a hosting company and they are no longer able to handle all their clients, or what?

indeed in terms of their cheap prices among other providers with the same service. but that does not mean this is the reason for not providing good service to its customers they. both in terms of server uptime, access speed, up to customer service.

because of this I finally decided to move hosting from dreamhost to other providers who certainly better.

very expensive price it can not guarantee the services of good technical support.

Seems like they are getting weaker day by day. Server issues may arise and stay for hours. Slow support and not friendly. No real 24/7, more of 9 to 5.
